The Oriental world has always been a challenge for a European soul, and for many of us it is still an unpredictable mystery. On the other hand, if you cannot withstand the temptation of unrevealing this eternal secret, the first step can be a visit to the Japan Society, New York.
Originally, the mission of the Japan Society has been this very point – to raise the curtain of Oriental mystery and develop cultural relationships as well. The institution was established in 1907. Later on, it changed its location, and the primary role in its architectural planning belongs to Junzo Yoshimura, who created a gorgeous mix of modern features and genuine Japanese ethereal elegance and delicacy of lines. The organization is nonprofit and non-political, it is just an act of good will to let you dive into pearls of Japanese culture, from ancient times to the most recent art works. The center holds two world-class exhibits annually together with a real pleiad of family, educational, theatrical and other activities.
